Evaluation question 3:

3 - What kind of media institution might describe your media product?

Define ‘film distribution’
Film distribution is defined as “the process through which a movie is made available to watch for an audience. This task may be accomplished in a variety of ways; for example, with a theatrical release, a home entertainment release (in which the movie is made available on DVD-video or Blu-Ray disc) or a TV broadcast”

What is the difference between how British/Hollywood films are distributed?

Hollywood
Independent individual cinema’s mainly show Hollywood films
International films: films are shown with a wider audience
More money so companies can advertiser by using billboards, T.V. adverts etc…
Done all under one company

Britain
Films only showed in Britain
Not got a wide audience
All the different processes are done under smaller companies

Where does yours fit in?
Our film would fit in as category A as it is produced using British money and a British cast.
We would hope to go down the road of Shane meadows where his films started off as low budget and now is being funded by Universal films, but in reality we would show our film in the London art house or at a film festival.
Films that could fund us would be:
• Warp
• Working title
• Optimum releasing
• Dog woof
• The Works
