What are the forms and conventions of a horror film?
The forms and conventions of a horror films are:
• Blood
• A weapon of some sort
• Darkness
• Killings
• Mysterious happenings
• A protagonist
• A good looking female
• Abandoned houses
• Screaming
• Body parts
• Psychopaths
• Creepy noises
• Masks
• Creepy voices
• Storms
What real (horror) products did you study/deconstruct?
We studied two films that we thought were similar to our story these were Sorority row and Friday 13th, we thought these were similar to our films as Sorority row is about a bunch of teenagers who get picked of one by one and so do our film. While Friday 13th has one main killer who has been bullied during the early years of his life which causes him to go on a riot killing people who venture into his land, also the protagonists don’t know how to kill the killer.
How have you referred to that/those films visually/used a line or dialogue from the film(s) - used the visual style (Blair witch)?
In our film we don’t really use any actions that have been used in any existing horror films.
Have you developed the style/characterisation in any way?
Our characters
• Bethan is a quiet, respectful and hard working girl. She does well at college and is always kind to the people that she meets. However, because of her kindness, she tends to get bullied quite a lot by other people at her college because of the fact that she is so kind and quiet, and will not retaliate in any way. She sees Alex as the only person she can trust and talk to, and she feels that he is the only one that is there for her. This is why it comes as a huge disappointed when she catches Alex and Sarah together, which eventually causes her to end her own life due to the fact that she has nobody to talk to. Sarah also wears average clothing such as dresses, skirts, jeans, T-Shirts etc. Bethan is being played by Rachel Kerry as she tends to keep herself to herself, a lot like Bethan, which will make acting easier. Bethan’s goals in the film are to stay with Alex, as he is the only person she can talk to when she’s upset. However, when she finds Alex cheating on her, all she wants to do is get revenge on those who had made her life terrible.
• Alex is a rather outgoing person, and can be quite cocky. He is going out with Bethan in the film, but then cheats on her with Sarah, and ends up dying at the end of the film. He wears average clothing such as Jeans, and a T-Shirt. He has rather short black hair, and has an eyebrow piercing in his left eyebrow. He is a bit of a player and will go from girl to girl without a care. His attitudes towards girls is kind and friendly, but he doesn’t like being with just one girl for a long period of time, which leads to his downfall in the film. Alex is being played by Alex Dickinson, as he is tends to keep his feelings to himself, so it will be easy for him to act as a person who has a secret in the film. Alex’s goals in the film are to staying with Bethan whilst meeting up with Sarah in secret. But when Bethan comes back from the dead, his only goal is to survive.
• Ben doesn’t play a very large part in the film until the end. However, he is the leader of a large gang of people and his main goals are to make his gang laugh by any means possible. Ben is the one who insults Bethan the most. Ben is being played by Liam Chamberlain, as he is quite strong which is how we have pictures Ben. After Bethan comes back from the dead, Ben’s only goal is the survive.
• Sarah is in many ways opposite to Bethan. She is very attractive and is a big flirt with all of the men at her college. She goes to the same college as Alex, and therefore that is how they met. Due to the fact that they are both very outgoing and will switch from one partner to another they are a perfect match for each other. Sarah tends to wear jeans and skirts a lot of the time, and also wears vest tops a lot. She loves toying around with the men at college to see how they react, and in this sense is quite mean. We are not sure who is going to play Sarah yet. Sarah’s goals in the film are to get with Alex, firstly because she likes him, and secondly because she wants to annoy Bethan. However, when Bethan comes back from the dead, Sarah’s goal is also to survive.

Have you subverted or changed it? How?
We have subverted our film by having a female killer, and by having the audience feel sorry for Bethan who is the killer and side with her so it will be sort of like the audience is wanting the characters to die
