evaluation question 7
7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at the preliminary I have learnt a few things and these are:
- Different shots to make the character or the shot more effective and/or powerful, this has been useful for me as now makes the authority of the character easier to recognise, other things that this technique used are that you can see the emotion more on the film
- How to change the speed of the shot, this has been useful as in the preliminary task there was a lot of time that wasn’t necessary and with being able to change the speed we could make the audience take more attention to the important parts of the film
- How to add effects to the film, this has been useful as the effects have made the transformation of one frame into another frame better quality and makes the film smoothly run from start to the end
- How to make the sound better, this has been useful as we found that out that the camera easily picks up on surrounding sounds so we tried to do the film in quieter area’s and also in the edge of the seat moments in the film we managed to get sounds that would make the scene more emotional

2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The characters featured in my Horror film are based on average teenage stereotypes. The characters aren’t particularly rebellious, which shows that they aren’t placed on the negative side of the average teenage stereotype, which would go out at night and get drunk, and vandalise property etc. However, the characters, apart from Bethan, aren’t really situated on the positive side of the teenage stereotype either, which would stay at home doing work all day, not go out much, and would tend to stay out of the way of people. The stereotype that we have created is in between of these two stereotypes, although Bethan tends to move towards the positive teenager stereotype, as she does not have many friends and tends to stay at home a lot doing college work. The clothing that our characters wear also represents their stereotype. Our characters wear average teenage clothing such as shorts, jeans, t-shirts, “hoodies” and trainers. These items of clothing convey the stereotype of teenagers, and these items of clothing aren’t particularly expensive, which is perfect for a teenager as they do not have much money, due to them not having jobs. The way the characters talk also suggest that they are teenagers. For example, in our script, the way that Alex says “Umm yea, sure...” suggests that he is a teenagers, as other more mature people would most likely not speak like this.

6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
The new technologies that I have learned is how to:
- Use a digital camera to film
- How to use Mac’s (I players)
- Upload to YouTube
- Use blogger
- Outlook webmail
Using these technologies I have learned:
- How to use an i-player to add effects and transitions to the film for example how to add black and white to the shot, this has been good as it has improved the standard of the film and is more likely to draw the attention of the audience
- How to use a digital camera I have learned to zoom in and out, rewind the tape and also how to record
- Uploading onto YouTube I have learnt that you can upload quickly and easily
- How to use blogger I have learnt how to import pictures and video’s to my own blog which has made it more interesting and also made it easier to understand
- We have used outlook webmail we already knew how to use it be it has been important in the making of the film as we have been needing to send each other important documents
